A: Birdtown is the nickname for Robbinsdale. Get it? Bird. Robin. Oh nevermind. Legend has it that in the early 80’s, a longtime resident, began to affectionately refer to Robbinsdale as Birdtown. At that time, there was tension in the air as the local school board considered closing Robbinsdale High School. However, those who grew up in Robbinsdale and attended the high school wanted the keep the ‘Robin’ spirit alive. Thus, the Birdtown moniker was born. Robbinsdale described a town on a map, but Birdtown meant something different. Birdtown was more about the character of her residents – wonderful, fun-loving people that exude modesty, integrity and generosity.
Help us keep the legend alive and run The Birdtown.
A: Yes, you can! You can see him at the various training runs and also wearing a kilt at the race. Who doesn’t want to see the mayor running in a kilt?!

A: All races will start and end in the city of Robbinsdale, Minnesota at Lakeview Terrace Park. 3769 Crystal Lake Blvd, Robbinsdale MN 55422
A. Yes. Check out the home page. The links are located under each distance.
A: Elevation maps can be viewed on the mapmyrun.com route pages.
A: The Half Marathon course will not be certified this year due to ongoing construction. We are hoping to certify the 2018 race route.
A: Yes. Our race is chip timed by Wayzata Results. Results can be found on their website after the race.
A: Yes, there is a time limit for the half marathon. If you can finish in 3h or less you shouldn’t have any problem. There will be a support/SAG wagon to keep you on pace. The city needs to have us reopen the streets so this pace will be enforced. If you cannot keep this pace you will be asked to leave the course or ride in the support vehicle. Sorry and thanks for understanding.
A: Although we encourage you to run the entire race we get it that you may need a walk break. No problem. Please refer to the time limit question above for pace requirements. You can do this!
A: The 8K and 4K courses are wheelchair friendly. The half marathon course may be a challenge for wheelchair participants going through Sochacki Park (Pronounced So-Hockey Park).
A: Currently, we do not plan to have a wheelchair division. But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t add them in the future.
A: No, unfortunately our insurance provider, USATF, will not permit us to allow dogs on the course this year as part of their coverage. Yeah, we’re bummed too. We love dogs!
A: You bet they are! But only on the 8K and 4K courses, not the half marathon. There are parts of the half marathon course that get narrow and may get wet/muddy and this creates a safety issue for other runners, your child and you. Please be conscious and respectful of other runners if bringing a stroller for the 8K and 4K.
A: Heck yeah! Who doesn’t love it when someone else has to keep track of time? The pacers are for the half marathon only.
